Program - High School Diploma

Program - High School Diploma

The High School Diploma is an American program designed to conclude a student's secondary education. It spans four years, from 9th to 12th grade. American public schools operate under this program and, upon completion, issue a diploma or certificate that enables students to enroll in an American university.

Requirements and program content may vary within the country depending on the state or district, but abroad, they are usually consistent.

Traditionally, NB offers all students the chance to fully realize themselves in a friendly atmosphere that motivates them to achieve high academic results. The experience of teachers and support staff, combined with a successful college preparation program and counseling support, yield high results in university admissions in different countries around the world. All students can count on personal consultations with representatives of the educational institution's administration. Every year, students receive individual recommendations and, in the spring, adjust their curriculum for the following year in consultation with educators.

To obtain the diploma, students must earn 24 credits; the cost of a year-long course equals 1 credit, while 1 trimester equals 1/3 credit. Typically, NB students complete:

  • 4 years of mathematics
  • 3 years of natural sciences (from biology to physics)
  • 4 years of English + 2 years of an additional foreign language
  • 4 years of social and behavioral sciences
  • 4 trimesters of technology or arts
  • 3 trimesters of varying-intensity physical education within individual or group fitness classes
  • A trimester of physiology or health sciences.

An important component is involvement in NGOs, social projects, or community organizations; each student must complete a minimum of 100 hours of such work.
